About

I am a post-doctoral researcher interested in the neuroscience of music and movement.

I investigate the sensorimotor foundations of communicative musicality, i.e. the universal human ability to communicate through music. Building on the fact that music is movement, and on my prior research on Sign Language, I am interested in why we are so moved to make and hear music, and what it can tell us about human communication and cooperation. That is why I am currently studying the mechanisms underlying interpersonal coordination in dance—one of the most fascinating and understudied models of gestural communication—, combining 3D kinematics (Vicon), neuroimaging (EEG) and eye-tracking techniques.
